Our gallery walls are so easy to use, the only thing you really have to do is choose a layout from our curated designs and then upload your photos and art. But as anyone with a full camera roll can tell you, organizing those images and choosing your favorites can feel a little daunting. To help you select a gallery wall that’s best suited for your space, and the types of photos to place in the gallery wall, follow these simple tips.

The Triptych: above a couch, a bed, or in a hallway

The Triptych has quickly become our most popular gallery wall. If you have a clean, sophisticated style and are looking to make a high impact, you can’t go wrong with this layout. The frames are available in six colorways (Black, Gold, White, Silver with Black, Indigo, and Blush) and each frame is designed with a bottom-weighted mat. At 76” wide, this layout is perfect above a couch, above a king-sized bed, or down a long hallway. And while the design requires only three photos, each one is printed at a relatively large size of 11” x 14”, so double check that your photos are high resolution (our site won’t allow an image smaller than 150 DPI). We'll also meticulously check each photo's quality when you upload it.

Travel photography: The Triptych is great for a travel montage, and looks especially sophisticated with black-and-white photography.

Family photos: Both candid shots and portraits of your children (or pets!) look striking in the Triptych.

Professional photography: The Triptych is a creative yet elevated way to display your professional artwork.

Images to frame in The Triptych’s Gold styles:

Photos of nature: There’s something about pairing green and gold together that just looks magical every single time. Think: landscapes, botanicals, backyard series.

Wedding photos: The Triptych is a creative and tasteful alternative to a salon-style gallery wall of wedding photos–it’s also the perfect way to highlight those hero shots.

Simple photos: Because of The Triptych’s bottom-weighted mat, it’s a smart idea to keep your look clean with balanced photos in gold frames.

The Staggered Grid: above a couch, bench, or low shelf

This gallery wall is the perfect mix of structure and spontaneity. Place it above a couch, long bench, or low shelf for an instant statement piece. Because the Light Wood & White tones and Mixed Metallics both complement bright colors, this Staggered Grid gallery wall goes especially well with bold, fun photos.

Playful images: Muted frames lend themselves to the pop of fun that is a selfie or a silly and loveable photo of friends.

Nature shots: A mix of wood and white frames are a beautiful choice for most photos, but we especially love pairing the neutrals with bold contours and eye-popping scenes of nature.

Images to frame in the Staggered Grid’s Mixed Metallics style:

Softer photos: This combination of metallic frames is lovely for wedding and engagement photos without a lot of color. Don’t be scared to mix in beloved Instagram photos of plants, landscapes, or pics from your travels.

A mix of black-and-white and color photography: Because these metallic frames are on the neutral side, you can go for both black-and-white and color photos for a winning look.

Portraits: With an array of muted shine, these frames are especially flattering for skin tones, so consider framing portraits. It’s all about that glow!

The Oversized Grid: centered on an empty wall

Designed for 12” x 12” photos, this is a clean and standout way to show off your favorite square shots–especially your Instagram faves! This design makes a big statement on an empty wall, and comes in our most popular frame styles: Light Burl Wood, Mercer Slim, and Georgetown.

Family photos: With six frames in a beautiful burl wood, these frames are perfect for family photos, old and new. You can take pics of vintage family pics and upload them right from your phone's camera roll.

Architectural details: Travel photos are always a winner, but the clean lines of architecture and highly-structured objects stand out in this style. Golden Gate Bridge, anyone?

Images to frame in the Oversized Grid’s Georgetown style:

Modern, playful photos: This gilded frame style skews a bit traditional, but that doesn’t mean your photos need to follow suit. A juxtaposition is beautiful here, so feel free to embrace more playful, modern subject matter.

Literally anything: You really can’t go wrong with the Georgetown. The frame style and wide white mat are forgiving, so just pick your favorite six photos and go for it.
